This year I have changed directions in my artwork - this time no rules. I am giving myself permission to just let it flow. I seek out other artists who are on the same track right now. Two artists come to mind - my husband - Joseph Germershausen, and a new teacher I have discovered from Australia - Gabbi Kitchener. These days I am always looking at the work of Joan Mitchell and other woman abstract expressionist painters such as Helen Frankenthaler, Lee Krasner and fellow Baltimorean, Grace Hartigan. These works are mostly small - some larger, but are all experimental and process driven. I feel very free doing these works, but I am also fascinated by what Iam learning intuitively about color, form and composition.
